RLIMP1, or ring finger protein, LIM domain interacting pseudogene 1, is a processed pseudogene located on human chromosome 13 (chr13:40,618,738-40,621,348, hg38 coordinates)[1]. It does not encode a functional protein; rather, it is considered a non-coding sequence derived from a protein-coding gene through retrotransposition. Processed pseudogenes such as RLIMP1 are usually inserted into the genome by the action of Long INterspersed Element-1 (LINE-1, or L1) retrotransposons, which reverse transcribe and integrate host mRNAs into the genome, resulting in non-functional copies (retropseudogenes)[2][4]. Although some pseudogenes can have regulatory RNA functions, there is currently no evidence that RLIMP1 is expressed or functional in human biology[2][4]. It is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any conventional therapeutic target.
