Overview

Ring finger protein 11 pseudogene 2 (RNF11P2) is a human pseudogene related to the protein-coding gene RNF11 but does not produce a functional protein product. Pseudogenes like RNF11P2 arise via duplication or retrotransposition and generally lack the full capacity to encode functional proteins, nor do they display direct biological activity or disease relevance as canonical protein targets. RNF11P2 is explicitly noted as a pseudogene in gene resources and is not a protein-coding gene. There is no evidence that RNF11P2 is itself a therapeutic target, encodes a receptor, enzyme, or similar structure, or is associated with tissue expression, biological function, or disease states. No drugs interact with this pseudogene, and it is not associated with any clinical biomarker or safety considerations. The confusion may arise because its parental gene, RNF11, does encode a RING finger E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in protein regulation and cancer pathways; however, RNF11P2 itself lacks such activity or roles.
