Ring finger protein 150 (RNF150) is a protein-coding gene in humans encoding a member of the RING finger protein family, characterized by a C3HC4-type zinc finger motif involved in mediating protein–protein interactions essential for ubiquitin ligase activity. RNF150 functions as a predicted E3 ubiquitin ligase participating in the ubiquitin-dependent catabolic process, likely regulating substrate specificity for protein degradation pathways in the cytoplasm and at membrane structures. Expression patterns show that RNF150 may play a role in suppressing tumor cell proliferation via promoting target protein ubiquitination and downregulation of pathways such as p38 MAPK signaling, with evidence suggesting a function as a prognostic biomarker in certain cancers, notably gastric and papillary thyroid carcinoma. Despite these roles, the precise biological targets and physiological substrates of RNF150 remain incompletely defined, and it is not an established therapeutic target in current clinical practice.
