Ring finger protein 19B pseudogene Y-linked (RNF19BPY) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene located on the Y chromosome. As a pseudogene, it is an inactive genetic element derived from a once-functional gene but now lacks the ability to code for a functional protein. Pseudogenes like RNF19BPY are sometimes transcribed as non-coding RNAs and may influence regulatory pathways, such as acting as RNA decoys or producing regulatory RNA involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation. However, there are no known biological functions, disease associations, or therapeutic applications specific to RNF19BPY. RNF19BPY is related to the RNF19B gene, which encodes an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase. However, the pseudogene form (RNF19BPY) does not code for a functional protein. “Y-linked” indicates it is located on the Y chromosome, implying expression (if any) would be male-specific. Pseudogenes are not standard therapeutic targets but may have roles as regulators in some contexts, especially in cancer, via non-coding RNA mechanisms. No evidence supports use of RNF19BPY as a drug target, biomarker, or disease-associated gene. Current scientific consensus is that it is a pseudogene without direct bioactive or therapeutic relevance.
