Ring finger protein 228 (RNF228) is a human protein predicted to function as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, based on the presence of a RING finger domain characteristic of this protein family[4][5][7][10][12][13]. E3 ubiquitin ligases catalyze the transfer of ubiquitin molecules to substrate proteins, typically regulating protein stability and degradation within the cell. RNF228 is predicted to localize to membranes and participate in cellular protein ubiquitination pathways, but its precise biological substrates and physiological functions remain to be clarified in the literature, and there are currently no well-documented roles in human disease, drug targeting, or established biomarker status[4][7][10]. RNF228 is one of several hundred RING finger proteins encoded in the human genome, many of which play important roles in cellular homeostasis and the ubiquitin-proteasome system[1][13]. At present, there are no specific drugs or safety concerns related to RNF228[4][10].
