RN7SK pseudogene 103 (RN7SKP103) is classified as a pseudogene of the 7SK small nuclear RNA (snRNA) in humans[2][5]. Unlike functional genes, pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences that resemble functional genes but have lost their protein-coding or functional RNA potential and are generally considered non-functional remnants of evolution[2][5]. The parent gene 7SK RNA (RN7SK) is an abundant small nuclear RNA involved in the regulation of transcriptional elongation by controlling the activity of positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb)[1]. However, the pseudogene itself (RN7SKP103) does not encode a functional RNA or protein nor is it associated with biological function, molecular targeting, or disease roles. There are no drugs known to target this pseudogene, and it is not used as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or known to present any safety concerns.
