Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 133 (abbreviated RN7SKP133) is a predicted non-coding pseudogene in Homo sapiens, related in sequence to the functional 7SK small nuclear RNA (RN7SK). The canonical gene, RN7SK, encodes a highly conserved small nuclear RNA (snRNA) that acts as a non-coding RNA regulating transcription elongation by associating with the 7SK ribonucleoprotein complex and modulating the activity of P-TEFb, a key player in RNA polymerase II–mediated transcription[1][2][7][5]. However, as a pseudogene, RN7SKP133 is typically annotated as non-functional and is not known to encode a biologically active RNA or protein. There is little evidence for specific biological function, disease association, or drug interaction for this pseudogene[6]. Its presence in genomic datasets reflects sequence similarity to RN7SK, but not an active molecular or therapeutic role.
