Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 136 (RN7SKP136) is a human pseudogene related to the functional 7SK small nuclear RNA (RN7SK), which is a key component of the 7SK ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex involved in the regulation of transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II[2][3]. As a pseudogene, RN7SKP136 is a genomic DNA sequence similar to RN7SK but is generally regarded as non-functional because it is not expected to be actively transcribed or translated into a functional product[2]. The parental, functional RN7SK RNA plays an essential role in regulating the positive transcription elongation factor P-TEFb and, by extension, transcriptional pausing and control in higher eukaryotes[1]. However, there is currently no evidence that RN7SKP136 itself has any known biological function, disease association, or relevance as a drug target[2]. It is not recognized as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other established therapeutic target, nor are there any known drugs or safety concerns related to this pseudogene.
