RN7SK pseudogene 143 (RN7SKP143)

Target
RN7SKP143
Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene; related to small nuclear non-coding RNA)
01

Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 143 is classified as a non-functional pseudogene derived from the RN7SK small nuclear RNA family. Unlike RN7SK, which is a highly conserved, abundant small nuclear RNA that regulates RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcription by controlling the activity of positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb), RN7SKP143 does not encode a functional RNA and is not known to participate in regulatory or cellular mechanisms. Pseudogenes such as RN7SKP143 can arise via duplication or retrotransposition but generally lack the capacity for producing active transcripts or molecules. Most research and therapeutic relevance in this family pertain to the functional RN7SK, which is vital for transcriptional regulation, cell cycle control, and chromatin structure dynamics. There is no evidence that RN7SK pseudogene 143 is involved in disease or interacts with drugs or has biomarker utility.
