RN7SK pseudogene 146 is a nonfunctional genomic sequence that resembles the RN7SK small nuclear RNA gene, which plays a pivotal role in the regulation of transcription elongation by sequestering and inactivating transcription elongation factors such as P-TEFb in metazoans. RN7SKP146 itself does not encode a functional RNA or protein, nor is it established as a drug target, biomarker, or therapeutic entity. It is one of many pseudogenes found in the human genome that originated from duplication or retrotransposition events; its sequence may be used for evolutionary or gene regulation studies, but it has no known role in cellular function or disease.
