RN7SK pseudogene 154 (RN7SKP154) is a pseudogene related to the functional RN7SK gene, which encodes 7SK small nuclear RNA.[1][4] Pseudogenes are genomic sequences similar to functional genes but lack the ability to encode functional products. There is no evidence in the literature that RN7SKP154 functions as a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic protein target, nor is it known to be involved in disease, interact with drugs, or serve as a biomarker. The canonical, functional 7SK RNA is part of a small nuclear ribonucleoprotein complex that regulates transcription elongation by sequestering and inhibiting positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb), but those functions are not attributed to the pseudogene form RN7SKP154.[1][2][3][4][5] Most pseudogenes, including RN7SKP154, are transcriptionally silent or, if transcribed, their products are typically non-functional; no evidence suggests a biological, pathological, or therapeutic role for RN7SKP154.
