RN7SK pseudogene 16 (RN7SKP16) is a processed pseudogene related to the functional *RN7SK* gene, which encodes 7SK small nuclear RNA. While the *RN7SK* gene is important for the regulation of transcription elongation via control of positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb)[1][2][3], RN7SKP16 is a pseudogene and is not known to produce a functional RNA or have any biological function. Pseudogenes are generally non-functional copies or fragments of genes that have lost their original gene function through mutation or lack of regulatory elements. There are no known disease associations, interacting drugs, mechanisms of action, or roles as a biomarker for RN7SKP16. RN7SKP16 should not be considered a molecular target for therapeutics, research, or clinical biomarker strategies[4].
