RN7SK pseudogene 186 (RN7SKP186)

Target
RN7SKP186
Molecular classification
pseudogene, long noncoding RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 186 (RN7SKP186) is a noncoding RNA pseudogene, homologous to the functional 7SK small nuclear RNA gene; it does not have protein-coding potential, is not known to be expressed, and there is no evidence for any functional, therapeutic, or biomarker role. It is one of many RN7SK-related pseudogenes in the human genome. The functional, canonical 7SK snRNA regulates transcription elongation by acting as a scaffold within the 7SK ribonucleoprotein complex, but this biological role is limited to the true RN7SK gene, not its pseudogenes[1][3][5]. There are no known drugs, safety concerns, or disease associations related to RN7SKP186. The use of RN7SKP186 as a therapeutic or diagnostic target is unwarranted because it is a pseudogene and not functionally expressed in cells[3][5].
