RN7SKP187 is a human pseudogene closely related to *RN7SK*, which encodes the 7SK small nuclear RNA, a highly abundant and evolutionarily conserved noncoding RNA involved in the regulation of RNA polymerase II transcriptional elongation[1][2][5]. Pseudogenes such as RN7SKP187 are typically defective duplicated copies of functional genes and are not transcribed into functional products. Unlike functional *RN7SK*, RN7SKP187 is not known to form part of the 7SK snRNP ribonucleoprotein complex, does not regulate the activity of positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb), and plays no characterized biological role or role in disease. As such, RN7SKP187 is not considered a molecular drug target, biomarker, or subject of therapeutic research.
