RN7SKP2 is a pseudogene encoding a sequence related to the functional small nuclear RNA 7SK. Pseudogenes such as RN7SKP2 are generally classified as non-coding and non-functional, and are not considered therapeutic or clinical targets. The functional counterpart, RN7SK, is a small nuclear RNA that regulates transcriptional elongation via binding to P-TEFb (positive transcription elongation factor b) and has established roles in immune regulation, cell differentiation, and possibly tumor suppression. However, these functions do not apply to RN7SK pseudogene 2, which, based on its sequence classification, does not produce protein or active RNA and has no attributed biological or disease roles.
