RN7SK pseudogene 21 (RN7SKP21) is a human pseudogene representing a non-functional copy of the gene encoding 7SK small nuclear RNA, a molecule involved in the regulation of transcription elongation through sequestration of the positive transcription elongation factor P-TEFb[1][3][2][6][4][5]. Unlike its parent gene, RN7SKP21 does not produce a functional RNA, lacks known biological function, is not classified as a therapeutic target, and does not participate in drug interactions or disease processes. RN7SKP21 is one of many 7SK pseudogenes found in the human genome, often arising through duplication events followed by mutation and divergence from the active RN7SK locus. It is primarily of interest in studies of genome architecture and pseudogene evolution, but not in therapeutics or disease biology[2][4][6].
