RN7SK pseudogene 213 (RN7SKP213)

Target
RN7SKP213
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)–like
01

Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 213 (RN7SKP213) is a human genomic pseudogene homologous to the RN7SK small nuclear RNA gene, which is part of a ribonucleoprotein complex involved in regulation of transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II. RN7SKP213 does not encode a functional RNA or protein and has no known biological function or disease association; it is annotated in human genome databases simply as a pseudogene, representing a non-functional remnant of the ancestral RN7SK sequence. Unlike the functional RN7SK gene, which is involved in transcription regulation and may play roles in epidermal cellularity and immune deficiency diseases, RN7SKP213 does not produce active RNA and is not considered a molecular target for therapy or research. Pseudogenes similar to RN7SKP213 are common for small RNAs and do not contribute known function to physiology or disease.
