Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 227 is one of numerous *pseudogenes* related to the 7SK small nuclear RNA gene, which is an essential non-coding RNA with nuclear regulatory functions in eukaryotes[1]. Pseudogenes like RN7SKP227 are dispersed throughout higher eukaryotic genomes and are sequences homologous to functional small RNAs, but they do not encode functional transcripts or proteins[1]. Such pseudogenes typically arise via integration of reverse-transcribed cDNA copies of parental small RNAs, often by self-priming, leading to truncated or otherwise nonfunctional gene copies[1]. The parental gene, 7SK RNA, is a key regulator of transcriptional elongation by RNA polymerase II, but the pseudogene itself has no known biological activity, therapeutic relevance, or established disease association[1]. There is no evidence that this specific pseudogene ("RN7SK pseudogene 227") serves as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other druggable target, nor is it implicated in disease, used as a biomarker, or pharmacologically actionable[1].
