Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 248 is a classified pseudogene derived from the RN7SK small nuclear RNA gene. Unlike the functional RN7SK, which regulates transcription elongation by controlling the activity of the positive transcription elongation factor P-TEFb[1][2][5], the pseudogene RN7SKP248 does not produce a functional transcript and has no known biological activity or disease association[4][5]. Pseudogenes such as RN7SKP248 generally arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and typically lack regulatory or coding capacity. There is no recognized therapeutic or biomarker relevance for RN7SKP248. RN7SKP248 is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any protein-coding gene—it is a nonfunctional genetic element (pseudogene). This gene is not considered a therapeutic target and does not currently have any established role in disease, biological processes, or drug interactions. RN7SKP248 should not be confused with the functional RN7SK small nuclear RNA, which does have important regulatory functions in transcription but is itself a non-protein-coding RNA[1][2][3][5].
