RN7SK pseudogene 266 represents a non-functional duplicated segment of DNA that shares sequence similarity with the functional 7SK small nuclear RNA (7SK snRNA) gene but does not produce a functional RNA or protein product. 7SK snRNA itself is a highly conserved, noncoding RNA that plays a critical regulatory role in eukaryotic transcription elongation by interacting with and regulating the activity of positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb), thus controlling RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription[1][2]. However, RN7SKP266, as a pseudogene, is not expected to participate in these molecular pathways and shows no evidence of being a therapeutic target, biomarker, or having any described molecular function or involvement in disease[1][2].
