RN7SK pseudogene 27 (RN7SKP27) is classified as a pseudogene related to the functional noncoding RNA gene RN7SK[5]. Unlike the functional RN7SK gene, which encodes a small nuclear RNA involved in regulating transcriptional elongation by sequestering the transcription factor P-TEFb[1][2][4], pseudogenes like RN7SKP27 are considered non-functional segments of genomic DNA. They result from duplication or retrotransposition events and are typically not transcribed or translated into an active product. There is no evidence RN7SKP27 has any biological function or clinical relevance as a molecular target[5]. The functional gene, RN7SK, is well-studied and is involved in major regulatory roles in transcription and cell differentiation, but RN7SKP27 does not share these functions[1][2][4]. Pseudogenes occasionally acquire novel regulatory functions or produce noncoding RNAs, but there is no published evidence for RN7SKP27 having such a role[5].
