It is distinct from the active RN7SK gene, which produces 7SK small nuclear RNA, a regulatory molecule that is part of the 7SK ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, modulating transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II through sequestration and inactivation of the positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb)[3][1][2][4][5].
