RN7SK pseudogene 281 (RN7SKP281)

Target
RN7SKP281
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Long non-coding RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 281 (RN7SKP281) is a non-functional genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene for the gene RN7SK, which encodes the 7SK small nuclear RNA. Unlike its parent gene, RN7SKP281 does not encode a functional transcript or protein involved in biological processes. The parent gene, RN7SK, is a highly conserved and abundant non-coding RNA essential for the regulation of transcription elongation by interacting with the positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb)[1][2]. However, RN7SKP281 itself does not participate in these functions and is not established as a therapeutic or biological target[5].
