RN7SK pseudogene 284 (RN7SKP284)

Target
RN7SKP284
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Noncoding RNA (by ancestry, but as a pseudogene does not encode a functional RNA)
01

Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 284 (RN7SKP284) is a pseudogene similar in sequence to the 7SK small nuclear RNA. It does not encode a functional RNA or protein, and there is no evidence supporting its expression or functional role in human biology[5]. In contrast, the parent molecule, 7SK RNA, is a small nuclear noncoding RNA involved in transcriptional regulation by sequestration of the positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb) and is implicated in control of cell differentiation, immune function, and disease processes such as cancer and heart disease[1][2][4][6]. However, these properties are not attributed to the pseudogene form.
