RN7SK pseudogene 39 is classified as a pseudogene related to the 7SK small nuclear RNA (snRNA). The functional 7SK snRNA is a highly structured noncoding RNA involved in the regulation of transcription elongation by binding and sequestering the positive transcription elongation factor P-TEFb, thereby modulating RNA polymerase II transcription[1][2]. However, RN7SKP39 is one of many pseudogenes in the human genome that are derived from the original RN7SK gene but do not produce functional RNA or protein[3]. As such, RN7SKP39 has no known biological activity, no disease association, and is not considered a therapeutic or diagnostic target. It is primarily of interest as a genetic sequence illustrating the existence and evolution of small nuclear RNA pseudogenes in the human genome[3].
