Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 57 (RN7SKP57) is a pseudogene corresponding to the 7SK small nuclear RNA gene family. Unlike its functional parent, RN7SKP57 does not produce a functional RNA. The canonical RN7SK gene encodes a noncoding RNA that forms a ribonucleoprotein complex regulating transcriptional elongation by RNA polymerase II, playing key roles in RNA metabolism, splicing, and control of gene expression. However, evidence for functionality, therapeutic targeting, or biomarker use of pseudogenes like RN7SKP57 is lacking. RN7SKP57 is not a therapeutic target, does not have known biological or disease relevance, and is simply a nonfunctional pseudogene analogue of RN7SK, which itself is a regulatory noncoding RNA.
