RN7SK pseudogene 78 (RN7SKP78)

Target
RN7SKP78
Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene of non-coding RNA)
01

Overview

RN7SKP78 is an annotated pseudogene of the RN7SK small nuclear RNA, identified in genomic databases but lacking evidence of transcriptional activity or function. Pseudogenes generally arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition but do not produce functional molecules and rarely serve as therapeutic targets. The functional, canonical RN7SK RNA (not the pseudogene) acts as a non-coding RNA scaffold regulating RNA polymerase II transcription via the 7SK ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, which modulates cellular differentiation, cell cycle, and innate immune functions[1][2][3][4]. No reliable evidence supports a functional or disease-related role for RN7SKP78.
