RN7SKP81 is a human pseudogene corresponding to the functional small nuclear RNA gene RN7SK, which encodes a non-coding RNA that regulates the positive transcription elongation factor P-TEFb as part of the 7SK snRNP complex. Pseudogenes like RN7SKP81 are generally nonfunctional genomic loci that resemble functional genes but lack coding potential; RN7SKP81 does not produce a functional snRNA or protein and therefore does not participate in cellular processes such as transcription regulation performed by the canonical RN7SK snRNA.
