RN7SK pseudogene 90 (RN7SKP90)

Target
RN7SKP90
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene
01

Overview

RN7SK pseudogene 90 is a member of the large family of ribonuclease P small nuclear RNA pseudogenes that share sequence similarity to the functional 7SK small nuclear RNA (RN7SK) gene. Pseudogenes like RN7SKP90 typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are generally considered non-functional, as they do not encode an active RNA product or protein. There are over 90 RN7SK pseudogenes in the human genome, all of which lack evidence for functional RNA transcripts or a biological role. The functional RN7SK gene itself encodes a noncoding RNA component involved in regulating transcriptional elongation, but RN7SKP90 does not have this function. RN7SK pseudogene 90 (RN7SKP90) is not a therapeutic target; it is a non-functional pseudogene, has no biological function or disease role, and should not be considered for drug development or as a biomarker.
