RN7SL176P is a genomic pseudogene corresponding to the RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic family. It is a non-coding sequence derived via retrotransposition from the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) and mediates cotranslational targeting of proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. However, RN7SL176P contains truncations and mutations typical of processed pseudogenes, meaning it is not expressed or functional in the cell. Human genomic DNA contains hundreds of such 7SL RNA pseudogene copies[7]. These pseudogenes do not participate in biological pathways or disease biology, do not encode proteins, do not interact with therapeutic agents, and have no recognized clinical or research utility as receptor or therapeutic targets.
