RN7SL388P is a human pseudogene that resembles the RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic (7SL RNA) gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein involved in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. Like other pseudogenes, RN7SL388P is classified as a non-functional DNA sequence similar to a functional gene but incapable of producing a functional RNA or protein product due to mutations, truncations, or other disabling features. There is no evidence that RN7SL388P plays a biological or pathological role, nor is it targeted by any drugs or implicated in disease processes.
