RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 477, pseudogene (RN7SL477P)

Target
RN7SL477P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA (as an origin), Other (not a receptor, enzyme, channel, transporter, transcription factor, or modifier)
01

Overview

RN7SL477P is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA, a key non-coding RNA that forms part of the signal recognition particle (SRP) in cells. While the functional 7SL RNA is essential for directing secretory and membrane protein synthesis through the SRP pathway, RN7SL477P itself is a truncated, non-functional DNA segment embedded in the genome as a result of reverse genetic flow—essentially a molecular relic rather than an active gene. It does not encode a protein, is not expressed, and has no recognized biological or disease role; its inclusion in genomic databases serves primarily as a record of genetic history[1][5][6][7]. Although some pseudogenes can regulate gene expression or act as miRNA decoys, there is no evidence to suggest that RN7SL477P has such functions[4][8].

02

Mechanism of action

None; no known mechanism of action relevant to drugs or therapy

03

Biological functions

Does not perform canonical biological functions; as a pseudogene, it is a nonfunctional segment derived from RNA, 7SLIn rare cases, pseudogenes can act as competitive endogenous RNAs or participate in gene regulation (e.g., miRNA decoys), but evidence for RN7SL477P is lacking
04

Disease associations

None established; general pseudogene-related mechanisms in cancer and other diseases may not apply to RN7SL477P specifically
05

Safety considerations

None; as a nonfunctional pseudogene, there are no therapeutic safety concerns associated
06

Interacting drugs

None known; no drugs are reported to interact with RN7SL477P or related pseudogenes
07

Biomarkers

None; not used as a biomarker for patient selection or efficacy monitoring
