The functional counterpart, U6 snRNA, participates in splicing but not in ligand binding or typical “receptor” activity[1][2]; pseudogenes simply catalog historical molecular events and may occasionally serve as markers for retrotransposition activity[4]. There is nothing therapeutically actionable about RNU6-1158P and including it as a drug target would be a category error.
