RNU6-1289P is a pseudogene related to U6 small nuclear RNA, which plays a critical role in pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome in eukaryotes[1][3]. The U6 family consists of highly conserved non-coding RNAs involved in post-transcriptional processing, but RNU6-1289P itself is annotated as a non-functional pseudogene and is not known to have direct biological activity. Pseudogenes generally do not produce functional proteins or RNAs, although in some cases, pseudogene transcripts can regulate gene expression by acting as competing endogenous RNAs, miRNA sponges, or through other RNA-mediated mechanisms[4]. There is no evidence that RNU6-1289P plays a specific functional, pathogenic, or pharmacological role.
