Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene, Small nuclear RNA (snRNA)-related
01

Overview

RNU6-1289P is a pseudogene related to U6 small nuclear RNA, which plays a critical role in pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome in eukaryotes[1][3]. The U6 family consists of highly conserved non-coding RNAs involved in post-transcriptional processing, but RNU6-1289P itself is annotated as a non-functional pseudogene and is not known to have direct biological activity. Pseudogenes generally do not produce functional proteins or RNAs, although in some cases, pseudogene transcripts can regulate gene expression by acting as competing endogenous RNAs, miRNA sponges, or through other RNA-mediated mechanisms[4]. There is no evidence that RNU6-1289P plays a specific functional, pathogenic, or pharmacological role.

Mechanism of action

None applicable

03

Biological functions

OtherMay participate in non-coding RNA regulatory networks if transcribed, via mechanisms such as antisense regulation, miRNA decoy activity, or competing endogenous RNA roles (functions described for other pseudogenes, generalizable but unconfirmed for this specific locus)
04

Disease associations

None established for RNU6-1289P specificallyIn general, pseudogenes can be involved in diseases such as cancer, immune regulation, and other contexts if they are expressed and functional[4]. However, there are no reports of RNU6-1289P being a disease biomarker or implicated in pathology.
