Overview

RNU6-356P is a processed pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family, which normally encodes a non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome, a complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing[3]. In humans and other vertebrates, many pseudogenes of U6 snRNA exist, reflecting its evolutionary importance[3]. Unlike its functional counterpart, U6 snRNA, RNU6-356P does not encode a protein and is generally considered to be non-functional.
