Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 747, pseudogene (RNU6-747P)

Target
RNU6-747P
Molecular classification
Other (specifically: non-coding RNA pseudogene)
01

Overview

RNU6-747P is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 small nuclear RNA plays an essential role in spliceosome function and mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells, but pseudogenes such as RNU6-747P are non-functional genetic elements that have accumulated through retrotransposition or duplication events. These pseudogenes do not contribute to cellular processes or have any known roles in disease or drug interaction. The presence of U6 snRNA pseudogenes is common in mammalian genomes and may serve as markers for retrotransposition dynamics, but they lack coding potential and biological activity.

Other names

02

Mechanism of action

None (no drugs target or modulate this pseudogene)

03

Biological functions

None (as a pseudogene, it does not have an established biological function)
04

Disease associations

None directly; U6 pseudogenes, as a class, have been studied more as genomic markers or for retrotransposition dynamics rather than disease involvement. Functional U6 snRNA itself is crucial for splicing, but pseudogene copies are not implicated in disease roles.
