RNU6-747P is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 small nuclear RNA plays an essential role in spliceosome function and mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells, but pseudogenes such as RNU6-747P are non-functional genetic elements that have accumulated through retrotransposition or duplication events. These pseudogenes do not contribute to cellular processes or have any known roles in disease or drug interaction. The presence of U6 snRNA pseudogenes is common in mammalian genomes and may serve as markers for retrotransposition dynamics, but they lack coding potential and biological activity.
