RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 139 is a processed rRNA pseudogene, meaning it is an inactive, noncoding RNA segment that resembles the 5S ribosomal RNA gene but has accumulated mutations preventing its normal function. It does not produce a functional transcript or protein, nor does it contribute to ribosome structure or biological activity. Such pseudogenes arise from retrotransposition or duplication events, and are commonly found in genomes. While some RNA pseudogenes can be transcribed or may theoretically affect gene regulatory networks, there is no evidence RNA5SP139 has any biological, clinical, or pharmacological significance. There is no indication RNA5SP139 is a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other functional protein or nucleic acid involved in signal transduction, cell cycle, apoptosis, immune response, or any other key biological processes. The entry may be present in genome or gene databases for annotation or evolutionary studies, but not for molecular targeting or drug development.
