Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 194 (RNA5SP194) is a genomic locus classified as a pseudogene of the 5S ribosomal RNA gene. The original 5S rRNA is an approximately 120-nucleotide ribosomal RNA component of the large subunit of ribosomes, critical for protein synthesis in cells[1][3]. Pseudogenes are genetic elements similar to functional genes but rendered nonfunctional by mutation, insertion, or deletion[2][4][5]. rRNA pseudogenes do not produce functional rRNA or protein products and are thought to arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition followed by sequence disruption[2][4]. Current evidence does not support any biological, therapeutic, or clinical role for RNA5SP194, and it is not a druggable target nor a biomarker for disease or therapy.
