RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 328 (RNA5SP328) is a processed pseudogene located in the human genome[2][4][7]. It is derived from 5S ribosomal RNA gene sequences, remnants that have lost protein-coding ability and do not function as conventional ribosomal RNA or as part of the translation machinery. Processed pseudogenes arise from reverse transcription and integration of RNA copies, lack introns, and are generally not transcribed into functional proteins[4][6]. While some pseudogenes can modulate gene expression through RNA-mediated regulation, there is no specific evidence that RNA5SP328 has a biological function, interacts with drugs, or is involved in disease pathways. Pseudogenes are increasingly studied for their potential indirect roles in gene regulation, particularly in cancer biology, but RNA5SP328 itself is not listed as a biomarker, therapeutic target, or disease-associated locus[6][7][8].
