RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 350 (RNA5SP350) is a processed pseudogene derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family. Pseudogenes such as RNA5SP350 are considered non-functional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events. Unlike their functional 5S rRNA gene counterparts—which play structural roles in ribosome assembly and function—pseudogenes typically lack regulatory sequences necessary for normal transcription and do not give rise to functional RNA or protein products [2][5]. While a small fraction of pseudogenes have been implicated in molecular regulation (for example, as competitive endogenous RNAs or via antisense effects), most pseudogenes—including RNA5SP350—are not considered biologically active or therapeutically relevant.
