RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 445 is a noncoding, nonfunctional pseudogene found in the human genome and related to 5S ribosomal RNA. Pseudogenes such as RNA5SP445 are essentially genomic sequences resembling functional rRNA genes but rendered nonfunctional due to mutations, deletions, or insertions arising during evolution. They lack protein-coding capacity and are not transcribed into a functional product. The parental gene, 5S rRNA, is a component of the ribosomal large subunit involved in protein synthesis, but pseudogenes like RNA5SP445 do not contribute to ribosome biogenesis or function[2][5][8][10].
