Overview

RN7SL128P is a pseudogene that belongs to a large family of 7SL RNA-derived sequences scattered throughout the human genome[6]. Unlike the authentic 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA scaffold for the signal recognition particle (SRP) and is essential for co-translational protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][4], pseudogenes like RN7SL128P typically arise through reverse transcription and insertion events. These sequences are often truncated, lack expression, and do not participate in cellular processes. The majority of 7SL-like sequences in the genome are pseudogenes and are not known to have biological functions or disease associations[6]. They do not serve as drug targets, are not involved in signaling pathways, and are generally ignored in functional genomics analysis. In summary, RN7SL128P is accurately classified as a non-coding, non-functional RNA pseudogene and not as a biological target or receptor[5][6].
