RN7SL16P (RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 16, pseudogene) is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene family[6][7][4]. The functional 7SL RNA is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex, which plays a critical role in the targeting of secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][3]. Pseudogenes of 7SL RNA like RN7SL16P are non-coding genetic elements that are generally not transcribed into functional RNA and are not considered protein-coding or regulatory targets[7][4]. Most 7SL pseudogenes are truncated copies of 7SL RNA that arose from reverse transcription and genomic insertion events, lacking functional roles in normal cell biology, disease, or pharmacology[7][4]. There is no known therapeutic, diagnostic, or biomarker relevance attributed to RN7SL16P itself, nor known drug interactions or mechanisms of action[2][6][7]. Note: - This target is not a conventional therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter), but instead represents a pseudogene, which by definition is generally non-functional and does not encode a regulatory or structural molecule used in pharmacological interventions. - No current evidence supports a direct role for RN7SL16P in disease or as a molecular target for therapies.
