RN7SL184P
Molecular classification
Other, Non-coding RNA pseudogene, belongs to the family of 7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes
01

Overview

RN7SL184P is a non-coding RNA pseudogene in humans, derived from retrotransposition of the functional 7SL RNA gene. Pseudogenes like RN7SL184P are vestigial sequences that may share sequence homology with the functional parent gene but do not contribute to signal recognition particle function or protein targeting. The 7SL RNA pseudogene family is a result of widespread reverse transcription and genomic insertion events, but individual pseudogenes, such as RN7SL184P, are mostly truncated and not expressed.
