RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 20, pseudogene (RN7SL20P) is a noncoding RNA sequence classified as a processed pseudogene—specifically one of many dispersed 7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes present in the human genome[2][3][7]. These pseudogenes are usually truncated, fragmented copies of the functional 7SL RNA, which itself is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) ribonucleoprotein complex involved in the cotranslational targeting of nascent protein chains to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][5]. However, pseudogenes like RN7SL20P do not produce functional RNA or protein and are not considered biological targets such as receptors, enzymes, transporters, or transcription factors[4]. Most 7SL pseudogenes, including RN7SL20P, are believed to have arisen through reverse transcription and genomic reintegration, leading to a lack of functional capacity and expression[2][3]. There are hundreds of such 7SL pseudogenes in the human genome, most of which are not expressed and lack any known therapeutic, diagnostic, or physiological role. The nomenclature and annotation indicate it is a pseudogene rather than a functional target; misclassification as a therapeutic target or receptor would be incorrect[4]. RN7SL20P does not interact with drugs, is not associated with disease, does not function as a biomarker, and does not raise specific safety concerns. It is not used for patient selection or efficacy monitoring.
