Overview

RN7SL201P is a human pseudogene homologous to the functional 7SL RNA gene (RN7SL1), which encodes the RNA backbone of the signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in protein translocation to the endoplasmic reticulum. RN7SL201P itself does not encode a functional RNA or protein and has not been reported to have any established biological function, clinical relevance, or direct association with disease or therapeutic targeting. While some pseudogenes in the human genome can regulate their parental gene or participate in miRNA networks, no evidence exists for molecular or disease roles specific to RN7SL201P. The presence of this pseudogene in the genome is likely a result of genomic duplication or retrotransposition, common mechanisms by which pseudogenes arise.
