RN7SL204P is a pseudogene locus derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA backbone of the signal recognition particle, a ribonucleoprotein complex critical for protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic cells[1][3][5]. In the human genome, hundreds of distinct 7SL RNA-like pseudogenes are present—these arise from the reverse integration of RNA back into DNA but generally do not produce functional RNA nor protein[5]. While some pseudogenes can influence the expression of their parent genes or act as regulatory RNAs, there is no evidence RN7SL204P is expressed or functional, nor is it associated with any disease or clinical biomarker utility[6]. Therefore, RN7SL204P is not considered a therapeutic target.
