Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 210, pseudogene (RN7SL210P) is a human pseudogene that derives from the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), an essential ribonucleoprotein complex for protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum. Pseudogenes like RN7SL210P typically arise from reverse transcription and insertion of 7SL RNA or related sequences into the genome, and are generally non-functional, showing no protein product or regulatory function[4][6][8]. While the canonical 7SL RNA plays a critical role in co-translational protein translocation by forming the backbone of the SRP[1][3][5], the RN7SL210P variant is not known to have any biological activity or disease association and is not a pharmacological target. Its presence reflects the genomic proliferation of 7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes, also related to the origin of Alu repetitive elements in the human genome[7][8].
